In addition, the city is home to two Dixieland jazz festivals. Pismo Beach is also the home of the migrating Monarch butterflies who come each year from the end of October through February.
Pacific Adventure Tours offers guided tours via Hummer on Pismo Beach to Oceano Dunes for a breathtaking scenic overlook. From Shell Beach they also offer ocean kayaking tours as well as tours ranging into Los Padres National Forest above scenic Lopez Lake.
Leisure time activities draw visitors to the area for everything from golf to sport fishing to running ATV's down the beach. Nearby Grover Beach is the gateway to the Oceano Dunes State Vehicular recreation area, the only drive-on beach in California. ATV's, kayaks, Boogie Boards and even horses are available for the visitor in Pismo Beach.
